City of Balch Springs to host the I-20 East Texas Corridor Advisory Committee meeting
On Wednesday, September 10th, 2014, the City of Balch Springs will host the I-20 East Texas Corridor Advisory Committee meeting at the Balch Springs Civic Center located at 12400 Elam Road from 10 am-2 pm. The event will be facilitated by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with elected officials and other stakeholders from Dallas, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Smith, Greg, and Harris counties. The purpose of the meeting is to identify and prioritize the rural transportation needs along a 155-mile stretch along the I-20 freeway corridor from the City of Balch Springs eastbound to the Texas/Louisiana State line. The meeting will focus on soliciting feedback and comments regarding the I-20 East Texas Corridor Study related to rural transportation needs, local planning issues that complement project scope, input on the feasibility of potential alternative/non-traditional funding, evaluating safety and capacity highway improvement needs along I-20 through East Texas, and so on. The eighteenth month study is scheduled to be completed in December 2014.
Special guest will include State Representative Cindy Burkett who is a member of the Transportation Funding, Select Committee.
